Udinese director Fabrizio Larini has confirmed that the Italian side are looking into the possibility of signing Grêmio defender Naldo in January.

Naldo, 24, joined the Porto Alegre side on loan this season and has impressed, having also enjoyed a strong spell at Cruzeiro in 2011.

With the defender’s rights split 50-50 between Cruzeiro and a player rights agency, Udinese are examining the possibility of adding Naldo to their growing Brazilian contingent.

“We are following Naldo. He is a defender with a good physical stature. We are watching him and we’ll see what happens,” Larini told the club’s official TV channel on Thursday.

Udinese brought in midfielders Willians and Maicosuel from Brazil only this summer, whilst former Palmeiras centre-back Danilo has been a stand-out performer for the club for some time.

Besides the trio, the club also bought full-back Neuton from Grêmio 18 months ago, with the youngster currently on-loan at affiliated side Watford.
