São Paulo have reached the final of the Copa Sudamericana following a goalless draw against Chile’s Universidad Catolica on Wednesday.
The Brazilian side dominated the match in front of nearly 60,000 fans at its Morumbi Stadium but were unable to find a goal.
Universidad peppered the home side’s box with crosses in the closing stages but never really looked like scoring.
Ney Franco’s side managed to hold out for the 0-0 draw to go through on away goals following their 1-1 first-leg draw in Santiago last week.
The Tricolor will now meet either Millonarios of Colombia or Argentinian outfit Tigre in the illustrious final, which will be settled on Thursday after a 0-0 draw in their first leg.
São Paulo’s Jadson, who had a chance to break the deadlock shortly before half-time, said: “It was a tough game. All of us fought for all the match.
“I had three opportunities. The team had several more. However, all of us are celebrating. Now it’s time to play well in the finals.”
The finals of the competition will be played over two legs on December 5 and 12, with the higher-seeded team playing the second leg at home, and the eventual victors will qualify for the 2013 Copa Libertadores.
