Bayern Munich defender Rafinha has made it clear the club are aiming to win titles this season after a disappointing 2011-2012 campaign.

The Bavarians missed out on the Bundesliga title last term, after they finished second in the league, and also lost in the DFB Pokal and Champions League finals.

The Brazilian defender has revealed the German club are determined to make amends this season, especially in Europe having been beaten on penalties by Chelsea.

Rafinha said: “Bayern’s objective is to win titles. We came up short in three competitions last term, but we are hungry for success, and everybody is willing to give their all in order to do better this time around.

“Our main goal in the Champions League for now is reach the knockout stages. We’re in a difficult group with three teams that are level on points. Once we’ve survived the group stage, we have as much chance of success as any other team.”

The right-back then went on to look ahead to Bayern’s game with the Bundesliga reigning champions Borussia Dortmund on December 1.

He added: “We already beat them for the German Supercup this season. Obviously, they are a great team and are the reigning champions.

“We are playing very well, though, and we can beat anyone in our current form.”

Rafinha also insisted he is very happy in Germany since moving to the club in 2011, following spells at Genoa, Schalke and Coritiba.

The 27-year-old concluded: “I haven’t thought about leaving Bayern yet. I made 35 appearances last year, but missed two months due to injury this season. It’s hard to break into the team again with so many stars around, and when the team is in fine form.

“I have a contract until June 2014, though, and I intend to honour it.”
