Fred has revealed he wants to retire at Fluminense ahead of making his 150th appearance for the club tomorrow.

The 29-year-old will reach the landmark when he takes to the Morumbi stadium field to face São Paulo on Sunday.

Fred has been at the current league leaders since 2009, following four years with Lyon, and recently scored his 100th goal for the Rio club.

The striker has now stated that he wants to spend many more years at Fluminensennand finish his career there.

He said: “I can only thank everyone here for helping me complete this, which is very important.

“I want to stay here until the end and hopefully the road is long and full of good wins."

The Brasileirão’s leading scorer, with 16 goals, has become a fans’ favourite at Flu but is desperate to win a title to make his time at the club even better.

“I have had many good times here, but something is missing.

“Everyone knows where this is heading and I’ll get it to the end. I sleep and wake up thinking of this achievement.

“That is a lot of games, many memories but I must leave that aside because there is a big match ahead and I want to celebrate this feat [150 appearances] with a win."

The game against fourth-placed São Paulo is scheduled to kick-off at 19:00 BST tomorrow, which Fluminense will be going all out to win with just five games remaining.
