Palmeiras coach Gilson Kleina has told his team that they need to win all five remaining games to stand a chance of escaping the relegation zone.

The coach told reporters: “We are dependent on other results, but if we get five wins we have a chance.”

Kleina also spoke of their recent 2-1 defeat to Internacional: “We played a good game, it is not easy to create the chances we did there. But now we need to win at home, so let’s get the win.”

The coach targeted the ‘magic total’ of 44 points earlier this season, and the club is some 12 points short of that at present.

Palmeiras are currently on 18th place, five points away from safety with five games left to play.

The games ahead for the club are against Botafogo (H), Fluminense (H), Flamengo (A), Atlético GO (H), and Santos (A).

The club has already crashed out of the Copa Sudamericana after losing 4-3 to Millionarios on aggregate after a 3-0 loss in the second leg.
