Santos superstar Neymar has been nominated alongisde the likes of Lional Messi, Falcao and Cristiano Ronaldo for the Best player of the year award by Bristish magazine ‘World Soccer’ as part of their 30th edition of the awards.

Brazil will have two other nominations in the awards as Corinthians head coach Tite has been nominated for the Best coach of the year and his Corinthians side for Team of the year.

The winners of the awards will be decided by readers voting via the internet and will be announced in the January 2013 issue of the magazine, which will be published in mid-December.

Barcelona forward Messi won the award for best player in 2009 and 2011 (Xavi won in 2010) and will be hoping to join legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo, who won in 1996, 1997 and 2002, by completing his hattrick of awards.

Besides Messi, four other players have been winners of the award on more than one occasion: Michel Platini (1984 and 1985), Ruud Gullit (1987 and 1989), Van Basten (1988 and 1992) and Ronaldinho (2004 and 2005).
