Former Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has hinted at possibly discussing the vacant managerial role at Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon.

The 63-year-old, who left the Blues in 2009, was sacked as Palmeiras coach last month and recently took up an advisory role with Brazil.

Scolari, who currently works on improving sporting development ahead of the World Cup, is in Lisbon this week for a seminar concerning the tournament in two years’ time.

When asked about the role at Sporting Lisbon, Scolari did not rule himself out of the running and revealed he will have discussions with his agent, Jorge Mendes, whose clients include José Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He said: “I do not know anything yet. Tomorrow I will meet with Jorge Mendes to find out if there are any proposals for me to decide.

“If a club has not won a title for four or five years, there may approach a coach who appears to be a champion.”

The World Cup winning coach has many titles to his name, from a managerial career spanning 30 years.

Sporting Lisbon have not had the best of starts this season, with just six points from six games.

The former Portuguese champions dismissed coach Ricardo Sá Pinto earlier this month following some disappointing results in the Europa League.
