Corinthians fitness coach Fábio Mahseredjian has outlined the club’s preparations for the Fifa Club World Cup, to take place in Japan in December, and has revealed they will spend time in Dubai to acclimatise to the possible conditions.

Mahseredjian has experience of preparing for this tournament, as he was the fitness coach of Internacional when they took part in 2010, finishing in 3rd place. The plan that has been outlined is for the squad, which will be decided and submitted to Fifa at the end of October, will fly out to Dubai for a 6 day training camp, before then moving on to Japan, hopefully ready for the challenge.

He said: “We play in a very cold and dry climate, with time zone 12 hours different. They are completely different situations. The intent is to outline a strategy to adapt. Young people sleep a lot, I believe that the six days will be enough.

“In Dubai, we will train, first through muscular work and then with the ball. Between the 5th and the 6th we will embark for Japan. We arrive at night, will rest and then train on the morning of the following day to accelerate the adaptation to the time zone. The workouts will be much more tactical and technical than physical. In this respect, we only injury prevention. The most important thing is to have success in games.”
