Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Oscar once more drew plaudits for his display on Saturday as the Blues marched past Norwich 4-1 in the Premier League to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
While compatriot Ramires dropped to the bench to accomodate the return of Frank Lampard to league action, Oscar, 20, starred once more in his attacking midfield role – despite not ending up with a goal or assist to his name.
Alongside goalscorers Juan Mata and Eden Hazard, Oscar formed part of a Chelsea attacking-midfield trio that caused the Canaries problems all afternoon.
The former Internacional man saw his colleagues take the headlines, but the internet and radio waves were awash with praise of his typically hard-working performance – linking the deeper-lying midfielders with those in attacking areas throughout.
The midfielder’s style may be less flamboyant than that of Hazard, for example, but he has quickly been taken into the hearts of the Chelsea faithful.
His afternoon would have been completed with a goal, but for the excellent work of John Ruddy in the Norwich goal, whilst with better finishing from Ashley Cole in a good position, an assist could also have come his way. David Luiz also started for the Blues.
