Manchester United midfielder Anderson has tipped compatriot Rafael da Silva to win the club"s Goal of the Month competition, despite his own special strike against Newcastle.

Anderson, 24, ended a run of nearly a year without scoring for the Red Devils in the Capital One Cup Third Round, after a terrible run of injuries, and spoke of his relief at ending his personal drought.

However, he believes that Rafael"s “more Brazilian" goal will see his compatriot to the club"s soon to be announced award.

“As everyone knows, it was a long time since I had last scored," Anderson told the club"s official website.

“So my goal against Newcastle was good for a beginning, a good start, for this season. It wasn"t a classic Brazilian goal, it was more like an English goal – a shot from outside the box. I had a look and tried a shot, it was a great strike.

“I think Rafael is going to win [Goal of the Month] though, because his was a nice goal [at Anfield], it was class. His one looked like a Brazilian goal!"

On Friday, it was also announced that Rafael had been voted the club"s Player of the Month for October by Red Devils fans.
