Botafogo striker Elkeson has spoken out in admiration for Fluminense’s defensive performances this season and believes that it will be a tough task to breach a back line that has conceded just 18 goals in 27 league games.

The ‘Grandfather Derby’ is Brazil’s oldest classico and Elkeson, 23, believes movement will be the key when the two sides meet at the João Havelange stadium in Rio on Saturday evening.

He said: “Their marking is very strong and they appear getting stronger. The defence is very solid, starting with the goalkeeper. We have to draw them out…Leandro Eusebio, Anderson…We know the characteristics of each player. So, we need to make quick moves.”

The former Vitória attacker has made a reputation of scoring against Fluminense but knows it will not be easy: “The goals came out of my drive. We need to create spaces.”

Botafogo currently sit in 7th position in the Brasileirão table, 7 points adrift of Vasco who occupy 4th and the last Copa Libertadores spot.
