The second leg of the fixture was set to kickoff with both teams on the pitch at the Centanario Stadium but a generator powering the floodlights failed just before the match.

The teams had lined up for the anthems but Chilean referee Enrique Osses was forced to lead both teams off the pitch after half an hour of waiting as it became apparent the floodlights would not work.

Osses then abandoned the game after an hour after officials failed to locate a back up generator in the vicinity. This comes as an embarrassment to the Argentinean FA who organised the fixture in Resistencia.

The AFA stated after the match that no new dates were available as the international calendar was packed until the end of the year.

Neymar was set to start the match as the lone striker as Mano Menezes fielded three defensive midfielders in a much criticised starting line up.

Brazil had won the first leg 2-1 thanks to goals from Paulinho and Neymar.
