Chelsea defender David Luiz has spoken to the Brazilian media about the ongoing situation regarding John Terry and his FA charge for the use of racist language.

David Luiz, 25, is the England centre-back’s regular partner in the heart of the Blues’ defence and pledged his support to his colleague, who retired from international duty earlier this week.

The Brazilian, though, insists that the players have taken positives from the situation – having seen that the club will support them when they are most in need.

“Everybody is trying to help him as best we can,” Luiz told Globo Esporte on Tuesday. “The club always gives you strength.

“He was not in training because he was in a meeting about this situation. The club is on the side of all of us.

“When this kind of thing happens, the club are always there for you. We must be appreciative of that. We are not alone.”
