The Seleção will visit Wembley on February 6 before hosting Roy Hodgson’s side in Rio as part of England’s two-game tour in early June, with their second opponents to be confirmed.
Club England Managing Director, Adrian Bevington, has revealed that the FA are delighted with the fixtures against the five-time world champions.
He told the FA’s official website: “We’re delighted Brazil will kick-off the FA’s 150th anniversary celebrations at Wembley.
“As the most successful footballing nation, with great players and supporters, it will be fantastic to launch this important year in English football’s history against such outstanding opponents as Brazil.”
The FA also revealed their reasoning behind the reverse fixture in Rio, which seems to have been arranged to provide the England players with a chance to get used to the South American climate and environment, ahead of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Adrian Bevington added: “We have been planning the fixtures in Brazil for over a year, as a key part of our preparation for 2014, subject to qualification.
“Our players do not have any experience of playing in South America and it will undoubtedly be beneficial for the team to travel and play in Brazil, a year ahead of the World Cup. We negotiated our qualifying schedule with a specific view to allowing this.
“While in Brazil, The FA and England squad will play an active role in developing and supporting a charity programme both in advance of and during the summer of 2013 and 2014.”
England last faced the Seleção in 2009, during a friendly in Qatar, which Brazil won 1-0 thanks to a headed goal from Nilmar.
The Brazilians recently played at Wembley during this summer’s London Olympics, where they lost 2-1 in the final with Mexico.
The senior side last visited London in 2011, when they played Ghana in a last-minute friendly at Fulham’s Craven Cottage, which Leandro Damião’s strike won for the Seleção.
