Brazil coach Mano Menezes has admitted that negative fans at the game between the Seleção and South Africa put his team into a “rage" ahead of their 8-0 demolition of China.

During the friendly in São Paulo last week, Brazil were booed for large parts of the narrow 1-0 win over Gordon Igesund"s team.

However, Menezes has admitted that the treatment they received spurred them on to win 8-0 against China on Monday.

The 50-year-old said: “The team was brought to a rage in São Paulo.

“We needed to turn that feeling into energy. We just wanted to answer them on the pitch.

“Against China, we just wanted to show the ability we have. The team came out quickly, and weren"t content with just a few goals. We knew we could do better [than against South Africa] and we showed that.

“We can"t take a lot of answers from the China match. But I don"t want to devalue our win."

The Seleção will now face Argentina in a Superclassico double-header starting on September 19.
