Chelsea midfielder Ramires has praised Brazil’s 8-0 drubbing of China, stating the result is what was expected of the Seleção.
The 25-year-old midfielder opened the scoring for Brazil midway through the first-half, when he calmly lofted the ball over the keeper to round off a fine Brazilian attack.
Ramires’ Blues teammate Oscar scored from the penalty spot to complete the rout, following goals from Hulk and Lucas Moura, three from Neymar, and an own-goal.
The Premier League representative believes the Seleção should be praised for their performance against the Chinese, even though they were far superior to their opponents.
He said: “We had the merit to beat China convincingly. The game was easy because we were playing with integrity, objectivity and were thirsty for scoring goals.
“We cannot forget that this same China only lost 1-0 to Spain and Sweden. We did what was expected of us and it should be viewed positively. If we had not won, we would be criticized, so I believe we deserve this recognition.
“We are united and eager to win. I think yesterday’s game showed it well.”
Ramires’ goal was his first since a friendly with Tanzania prior to the 2010 World Cup, and the Chelsea man left the field to a rapture of applauses.
He added: “It had been a long time since I had the joy of scoring for the national team, so I was very happy to make way for our rout.
“It was really nice to feel the warmth of the Brazilian fans, hear my name being yelled. It is very important for the whole Selection rely on this support.”
Brazil will now head into a Superclassico double-header with Argentina starting on September 20.
