Manchester United midfielder Anderson is focused on staying fit and proving his worth ahead of an important season for him at the club.
Anderson arrived at Old Trafford with high expectations following a £20million-plus transfer from Porto in 2007.
However, the Seleção international has failed to fully establish himself since moving to the Premier League and his future has been the subject of speculation during this close-season.
The 24-year-old said: “I just want to play. This season is very important and I know I have to be very focused on my football.
“I really want to show what I can do, produce my best and help the team. I know the boss and my teammates believe in me. I’ve just had bad luck. I want to improve as much as I can and help the team win trophies.”
Anderson’s five-year stint at United has been plagued by a number of injuries and the midfielder has only managed 83 league appearances and four goals so far.
He added: “This season it’s very important that I don’t have any more injuries. I started last season with no problems, but then I started to feel my knee a bit. It’s just one of those things – some players have injuries and others don’t.
“It’s unfortunate it happened to me, but I just got my head down and worked as hard as I could to get back and when I came back I thought everything was fine, but then I had more bad luck.
“I’m just focused on staying fit now and doing my best to work hard and give 100 per cent for the team.”
Competition for places in midfield will be harder than ever this season as Ferguson already has a wealth of options. Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs have signed one-year contract extensions, Michael Carrick, Cleverley and Powell are all vying for places and there’s also the potential arrival of Lucas Moura for Anderson to contend with.
