AS Roma have confirmed the signing of Brazilian centre-back Leandro Castan for a fee of €5 million from Corinthians.
Leandro Castan, 25, was an important player for the Timão as they won the 2011 Brasileirão and 2012 Copa Libertadores titles, forming a strong partnership with captain Chicão.
Following the clubs successes, suitors have taken an interest in the solid centre-back and Roma have beaten the rush for his signature.
“A.S. Roma announces it has signed a contract with the outright acquisition of rights of the player Leandro da Silva Castan, against the registration of a fee equivalent to 5 million euros,” a statement on the club’s website read.
“The player has signed a four-year contract that will expire on June 30, 2016.”
