Zinho has told reporters that Wolfsburg midfielder Diego is still keen on a move to the club, despite a bid being rejected earlier this week.
Diego, 27, came through as a professional at Santos, before spells at Werder Bremen, Juventus, Atlético Madrid and Wolfsburg, but now looks set to return to his homeland should Flamengo stump up the cash.
“Diego has made it clear that he wants to play with us," the executive told Bild. “Now everything depends on Wolfsburg."
Wolfsburg, though, who rejected an offer earlier this week, have told the Brazilian club that any deal must be complete by the end of July.
"Topics such as [Simon] Kjaer, Diego, or whoever – that must be decided by the end of July," manager Felix Magath told reporters.
“Otherwise we will decide that the issue will end and these players will go into the season with us."
