Brazil left-back Marcelo believes the national team must win gold at the Olympic Games this summer in order to recover their ”prestige”.

The Seleção dropped out of the top 10 of the FIFA rankings for the first time ever earlier this month after losing their last two friendly matches to Argentina and Mexico.

Marcelo believes he and his Brazil team-mates must win the Olympic Games football tournament in London in order to regain their status as one of the best international sides in the world.

”Winning is the only way that we will get our prestige back,” Marcelo said at press conference on Wednesday. ”I will do my best to give our fans that joy.”

Brazil will play Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand in their group games as they bid to win gold for the first time in the Olympic Games men’s football tournament.
