The 25-year-old midfielder joined the Giallorossi on loan from Fluminense in January with the option to be signed outfight for a fee of €5 million in the summer.

Marquinho scored his second goal for Roma against Udinese last Wednesday, and coach Luis Enrique told the club’s website that he considers the Brazilian to be one of the most valuable members of his squad.

”Marquinho is a very important player,” he said. ”It’s really hard to bring in players in January because they always need a settling-in period, but he’s doing very well, beyond expectations.

”He knows how to beat his man, get into space, he’s a superb striker of the ball and I’m sure he’ll score goals from long range.

”He’s very willing and he always asks where he can improve. We’re all delight with him: he’s been a great signing.”
