The club’s medical staff had discovered that Renato had an irregular heartbeat during a routine health test three-and-a-half weeks ago, and it was feared that the 33-year-old’s career was over.
However after undergoing a successful minor operation, the player was able to do some light running for thirty minutes at the Ninho do Urubu training centre on Thursday.
Flamengo have still yet to confirm when Renato will be able to return to the field of play.
