The former Fenerbahçe number 9’s wasted opportunity from three yards out has dominated the headlines in the Brazilian press on Thursday.

”It was an unbelievable miss. Of course I’m not here to miss chances, but it’s part of been an attacker,” Deivid said.

Meanwhile, Flamengo coach Joel Santana admitted he’s not able to explain his striker’s missed chance.

”Only those who were on the pitch can know what happened. Such a simple thing, he was on the ball with simplicity,” the 63-year-old said.

”I can’t explain it, it’s unbelievable. The player will have to explain it.”
