The 27-year-old was the star performer in Brazil’s last international match against Egypt in November, scoring two goals in the Selecão’s 2-0 win.
Jonas has also been impressing at club level with Valencia, having so far found the back of the net eleven times this season. Speaking to Globoesporte he said:
”I was very happy with the call-up, I think it’s a sign that I’ve been doing well at Valencia.
”I tried to make good use of the opportunity Mano gave me in the recent friendlies and I see this next game as a great challenge.
”It’s an honour to wear the Brazilian shirt again, it’s the dream for every player. I will go there with the thought of killing a lion in training and helping Brazil win again.”
