The 25-year-old midfielder has been out of action since November, after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Chelsea in the fifth round of the League Cup.

Having made three appearances in the competition, Lucas is entitled to pick up a medal if the Red’s manage to beat Championship side Cardiff at Wembley on 26th February.

”I think it would be a reward for the hard work everybody has done and for taking the competition really seriously,” the Brazilian international told Liverpool’s official website.

”It would be especially important for me because I got injured in the Carling Cup. Hopefully in February I can be at Wembley getting a medal and I would be really happy if that happens.”
