The 19-year-old forward continues to be linked with a move to the Catalan club and their arch rivals Real Madrid, despite recently signing a new deal at Santos until 2014.
Earlier this month, Barcelona president Sandro Rossell suggested that the La Liga champions would make a move for Neymar once the strikers contract expires.
However, Peres – once a player of Barca – says that his former side are already closing in on the Brazilian international.
”I am friends with Santos officials, I can say that Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona is at an advanced stage,” the 64-year-old told COM Radio.
”Sooner or later Neymar will play at Barca. He has tremendous talent and he will be a big hit at the Nou camp.”
