Henrique was set to move to Loftus Road on an 18-month loan deal from São Paulo, having come to fame last year with his performances at the Under-20 World Cup.

The decision is a shock for the West London club, who were confident of getting a permit for a player they felt could be considered an ‘outstanding talent’. However, this hs been rejected by the UK Border Agency.

It remains to be seen whether the R’s will appeal and what would happen to Henrique, with São Paulo closing on two more striking renforcements in Nilmar and Osvaldo.
