Goals from former-Cruzeiro man Jussiê and Maurice-Bela were enough for Bordeaux, as Mariano made his debut wearing the number 25 shirt.
“It was very special to start and to be able to play at the first opportunity,” said the 25-year-old full-back.
“It has given me a lot of confidence and shows that everyone here is aware of my football. I am very happy and there is nothing better than going straight into the starting line-up, playing ninety minutes and getting a victory.
“I felt good out on the pitch, but I can still improve, both physically and also tactically. I am still understanding my team-mates and adapting to the new style-of-play. I hope that it will be a quick adaptation and starting in this game gives me much hope of this.”
