Luiz Felipe Scolari is amongst the names to take charge at Atlético Madrid after strong reports from the Spanish media suggest that current coach, Gregorio Manzano, is expected to face the sack in the next few days.

Luis Pereira, who is now in charge of Atlético Madrid’s youth academy, has affirmed that the Spanish club have held talks with Scolari and the former Chelsea coach will give a response by Wednesday.

”There was some contact (with Scolari) for a few days, but so far nothing has been resolved. I believe this issue will be resolved today or tomorrow (Wednesday),” Pereira said in an interview to Rádio Bandeirantes.

The former Palmeiras defender also revealed that Atlético’s board of directors have come up with a four man short list for the managerial position.

”I do not know if it’s Felipe (Diego) Simeone, Juande Ramos or (Rafa) Benitez. I just know that Felipão is well regarded, but I work in the team below, it’s difficult to guess (who will be the coach).”

Scolari has however recently stated he has no plans to leave Palmeiras any time soon and hopes to fulfil his contract with the Paulista club which runs until December 2012.
