The Red Devils were shaken by the news today that Darren Fletcher will be taking an indefinite break from the game in order to recover from a severe intestinal problem.

At the same time, with Tom Cleverley and Anderson also sidelined for the moment, the latter until February, the club are running terribly short of first-team midfielders ahead of a crucial period in the title race.

Sandro made a big impact in his debut season in England, forcing his way into the first-team in the second-half of last season and excelling in fixtures against AC Milan and Real Madrid.

The Brazilian has not always been a first-choice this season, since recovering from injury, with Scott Parker having nailed down a central midfield slot since arrival.

However, the 2010 Copa Libertadores winner would have many options should he decide to move on, with several top Italian sides linked with a move this past summer.
