Fluminense surrended their Brazilian League title after a 2-1 defeat against Vasco on Sunday evening. The 2010 league champions are now stuck third in the table with sixty two points and can no longer reach the leaders, Corinthians, who are now on seventy points.

For Abel Braga, the solution now is to hope the league title stays in Rio de Janeiro for another season.

”Now I will support Vasco,” the Fluminense coach revealed. ”It’s frustrating that we lost, but even if we won, we couldn’t of been the champions. The fight is now between Corinthians and Vasco and I’m going to be cheering for Vasco. A Vasco win against Flamengo and a Corinthians defeat to Palmeiras would be normal results. We are going to do our part against Botafogo and then support Carioca football – Braga said.

The Fluminense coach use to play for Vasco between 1976 and 1979, and won the Carioca state championship in 1977 with them.
