Palmeiras made it their second win in a row after beating local rivals Sao Paulo 1-0, which ended the Tricolor’s chances in qualifying for next year’s Copa Libertadores.

Luiz Felipe Scolari now believes that his side can frustrate their other local rivals, Corinthians, in last league match of the season.

”If we keep playing the way we played for the past four matches I can’t see Corinthians supremacy against Palmeiras. If the team is well defined and everything is well executed by the players, we can beat them,” Scolari confirmed.

When Vasco scored their last minute goal against Fluminense to take the title race to the final game of the season, the Palmeiras supporters who were at Pacaembu stadium celebrated, knowing that their side could deny their arch rivals, Corinthians, the title, if they can take all three points off them on Sunday and if Vasco can beat their rivals, Flamengo.

Despite all these components for the decisive duel next Sunday, the former Chelsea coach tried to minimize the confrontation against Corinthians, worrying about his team and nothing else.

”I wont take any pleasure in denying Corinthians to become the champions, I have when Palmeiras win.
