In what will be the ninth edition of the annual ‘Match Against Poverty,’ both players will choose a team of star players in a bid to raise money for charity, as part of their work as Goodwill Ambassadors for the United Nations Development Programme.

The game will take place in Hamburg, Germany on December 13, and a whole host of big name players are expected to turn out for both sides, with the fixture supported by FIFA and equipment provided by Nike and Adidas.

Ronaldo retired from professional football earlier this year, while Zidane quit the game in 2006. They met in some big games during their careers, including the 1998 World Cup Final and the quarter-finals in 2006, and were teammates at Real Madrid.
