According to reports in the Italian media, negotiations are at an advanced stage, with Anzhi having made a bid of €15 million.
They already have four Brazilian players in the squad, in Roberto Carlos, João Carlos, Jucilei and Diego Tardelli. Roberto Carlos, who is the club captain, is believed to have told owner Suleyman Kerimov to sign more Brazilians in order to help the side win the league.
Anzhi have already shown their intentions to bring in top players in recent months, signing the likes of Samuel Eto’o, Yuri Zhirkov and Balazs Dzsudzsak. They were also rumoured to be interested Neymar and Ganso during the summer.
Maicon has been linked with a move away from the San Siro for over a year, with Real Madrid previously seen as his most likely destination.
Whether he would be willing to join Anzhi remains to be seen, but they will certainly be able to tempt him with a big financial offer, with his former Inter teammate Eto’o earning €20.5 million a year.
