All eyes were on the youngster Romulo yesterday whilst he trained for Vasco after he was called up to the Brazil squad for the game against Argentina.

The midfielder was one of the surprise picks of the squad, but it has been welcomed in many sectors. Romulo has consistently performed this year since the beginning of the campaign, being one of the best performers in the league in his position.

He acknowledged himself not to expect this call-up but he hopes this will put him in the running for the Brazil 2012 Olympic squad.

Romulo said: I am very happy. At first I didn ‘t believe it when I saw the news but when I went on the internet I understood it was true and that it was not a joke. When I saw my name, there was much excitement and joy.

“This selection is very important especially with the approach of the Olympic Games in London but for that I will have to work even harder.”
