After the Ghana win at Craven Cottage last night, Mano Menezes named his squad for the match on the 14th September.
Cortes was a surprise inclusion into the squad and he believes everything in his life so far has been leading upto this moment.
Cortes said: “I didn’t have a TV at my house because cable was being installed so I heard the news about the call-up from somebody else.
“At the time, I threw myself on floor and started crying. I remembered everything in my life to reach this special moment.
“God is too wonderful for me.”
Cortes has performed well this year for Botafogo but he didn’t expect to get a call-up this soon in his career.
He continued: “I lost my mother when I was very young and then I had to go and get some experience in Qatar.
“But now for me to get to the selection, it is very exciting.”
