The side are still unbeaten in the league after 14 games, and sit in second place, one point behind leaders Corinthians, albeit having played one game more. In an interview with Radio Tupi, Ronaldinho said he could only see one winner of the Brasileirão.
“I see only one team as the favourite,” he said, referring to Flamengo. “Many others will be backing Flamengo. But we must still be wary of the teams like Corinthians, Vasco da Gama, Sao Paulo and Internacional.
“The Flamengo team is very good,” continued the 31-year-old. “We have some experienced players mixed with some very good youngsters, and I think we can do well this year. We will fight for the title.”
Ronaldinho’s comments come not long after Flamengo coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo also talked up the side’s title chances. They will hope to continue their impressive form when they take on Coritiba tonight.
