There have been concerns over the lack of progress being made in the country with aspects such as stadia and transport. However, Blatter believes that Brazil will be ready, and has confidence that the country can host a memorable tournament.

Speaking at press conference in Rio ahead of the qualifying draw, Blatter said: “The last time the event was held here was in 1950, and 61 years later, we"re very confident that Brazil 2014 will be a triumph.

“There is a lot of mutual trust between Brazil and FIFA," he continued. “This was confirmed during our third meeting with the Organising Committee on Tuesday. The ministry of sport as well as the president [of Brazil] are confident everything will be ready."
