In a recent training session, Menezes applied the formation to his preferred starting line-up, with Ganso set to play behind Robinho, Neymar and Alexandre Pato. It is the same formation with the same front four that the coach used in his first game in charge of the Seleção, a 2-0 win against the USA last August.
“It was the first more complete training session in terms of tactics, with the formation very close to the one we will use in our first game [in the Copa America]," Menezes said in a press conference. “From here on in we will develop the idea, tighten it and make any corrections.
“We have already played like this, against Holland for example," he continued. “We didn"t manage to win, but we used the formation well in the second half. Using this formation compliments the characteristics of the players."
