In a press conference on Monday, Menezes told reporters: “If we analyse the local factor, in the same way we are favourites in 2014 [World Cup], Argentina is the favourite right now. More so if you consider how long they have been without a title."

He continued: “But it is mere theory; the ball starts rolling on the first, and then we will see in practice who the favourites are.

“In the group stage, in theory our toughest opponents will be Paraguay, but we must also be careful against Ecuador and Venezuela. That is why right now, I think our hardest match will be against Venezuela, because it is our first match.

“We have to take advantage of every game and every moment we have," continued Menezes, with Brazil"s next competitive fixture after the Copa America not coming until the 2013 Confederations Cup.

“Our goal is to play a great Copa America, which is a key step on the way to the 2014 World Cup," he concluded.

Brazil begin their campaign against Venezuela on July 3, before taking on Paraguay six days later and wrapping up their group fixtures against Ecuador on July 13. Keep checking Sambafoot for all the news on the Seleção.
