The Italian giants had been linked with a move for 24-year-old Fernando, who has also attracted interest from Roma, Internazionale and Lyon. Last month he voiced his desire to leave Portugal, telling reporters: “After winning so many titles for FC Porto and one Europa League, I think this is the right moment to leave.”

But his final destination will not be Turin, as reported by Goal.com. “Fernando for €30 million is impossible,” said a source close to Juventus. “There was contact with Porto. There were a number of talks in which Juve made enquiries for Fernando. But following Antonio Conte’s arrival, over the last few weeks the situation has changed.

“Juve are speaking less about him. €30 million for Fernando is just too much for them. They will not spend €30 million for a player of this quality. They will only spend this type of money for someone like Alexis Sanchez. The feeling is for a high class midfielder they want to spend between €10m and €15m, not more than that.”

Portuguese newspaper A Bola now reports that the club most likely to secure Fernando’s signature is Lyon.
