In just two rounds, the 2024 Brasileirão has already lived up to the expectations with goals, controversies, flair, and even coaching changes. After an eventful weekend to kick off the season, Matchday 2 continued to prove why this might be an exciting championship.

With just one quiet day between the first round and the next, the ball started rolling again on Tuesday with Bahia’s epic win over Fluminense under heavy rain in Salvador. Wednesday was packed with matches, including Internacional’s surprising away victory over Palmeiras.

Another team that claimed all three points for the second consecutive game were Flamengo. Tite’s side defeated São Paulo, who fired coach Thiago Carpini after losing their first two matches in the league. The second round concluded on Thursday with a hard-fought 1-0 win for Botafogo against Atlético Goianiense.

Once again there will be only one day without games in the Brazilian league, with Matchday 3 starting on Saturday (20), with the Mineiro Derby between Atlético-MG and Cruzeiro as one of the most anticipated fixtures.

Sambafoot Series has launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo’ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays – as a player and as a coach. The first and second episodes are available on Sambafoot’s Youtube channel and the series will receive weekly releases to tell this legend’s life story.
