Pato scored 14 goals in 25 league games last season, helping Milan to win Serie A for the first time since 2004. Despite his decent scoring record, Allegri told AFP: “He"s done a lot but the way he played in the [Milan] derby and against Fiorentina, he must do so 30 times a season.

“He doesn"t need to manage himself because he"s only 21," continued Allegri. “He needs to add useful movement to his great attributes without getting confused. He has incredible quality and could become much more than he is already."

Milan signed Pato from Internacional in 2007, and he has maintained a record of a goal nearly every two games in the league, with 50 in 101 appearances. However, competition for a place up front is fierce at the San Siro currently, with Milan also having Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robinho, Antonio Cassano and Filippo Inzaghi to choose from.

With a goal seconds into his international debut against Sweden in 2008, Pato has picked up a total of 12 caps for the Seleção, scoring four goals. He was a surprise omission from Dunga"s World Cup squad last year, but should get some action at the Copa America next month.
