The home side took the lead through Lulinha‘s smart finish on 17 minutes. Ronaldinho tapped in from four yards to equalise for Flamengo on the half hour, but Bahia ended the half 2-1 up thanks to a goal from Jobson, who had a simple finish at the back post after poor defending from the visitors.

Ten minutes into the second half, Dario Bottinelli brought Flamengo level again with a precise side foot finish, and they took the lead for the first time on 73 minutes when Egidio converted Ronaldinho’s cut back. It seemed to be enough for the away side to take the points, especially when Bahia’s Helder was sent off, but Jobson popped up again to score in injury time and ensure the points were shared.

Vasco da Gama moved up to second in the table after defeating America MG 3-0. Vasco took the lead from the spot on ten minutes when Bernardo scored a penalty, and doubled their advantage shortly after the break through Enrico. Dudu was dismissed for America, before Elton completed the scoring in added time.

Elsewhere, Corinthians secured their second win from two games with a 2-1 victory at home to Coritiba. Corinthians, who finished third last season, went ahead just three minutes into the game thanks to Paulinho. Coritiba equalised 16 minutes from time through Leonardo, but they were not level long, as Danilo scored the winner for the home side five minutes later.

A comical own-goal from Rafael Santos, who slotted past his own goalkeeper from outside the area on 12 minutes, gave Gremio a 1-0 win at Atletico Paranaense, while Leandro Euzebio scored the only goal on 11 minutes as Fluminense won away to Atletico Goianiense.

Last but not least, Cruzeiro drew 1-1 with Palmeiras. Luan put the visitors one up on the hour with a fine finish from just outside the area, but 2010 runners-up Cruzeiro secured a point 15 minutes later when Anselmo Ramon finished from all of a yard.

After two games, Vasco, Atletico Mineiro, Sao Paulo all have maximum points, while at the other end of the table, Avai, Atletico Paranaense and Coritiba have all lost both of their opening fixtures.
