Manchester United have confirmed a deal with a with Desportivo Brasil, who are a youth club and academy based in Sao Paulo run Carlos Alberto Parreira. The arrangement gives United first option on their players.
Desportivo are owned by Traffic Football Management who also wholly or part-owns the economic rights to another 90 or so professionals via two multi-million dollar investment funds founded to profit from the transfer of promising Brazilian players.
The deal is a shock considering Manchester’s difficulty in securing the ex-Corinthians star Carlos Tevez who is managed in a similar part owned way.
