With the South American World Cup qualifiers in full swing and a pending Confederations cup in the summer, Dunga is running out of time to try out strikers for the 2010 World Cup Finals.
In Germany Grafite has been setting the Bundesliga alight with his outstanding 24 goals haul for Wolfburg. The German press has been slightly puzzled as to why Dunga appears unwilling to give Grafite a chance an international level. However Grafite is a late bloomer in the game at 30 years of age.
So maybe its time for Dunga to recall 24 year old Nilmar who underlined his case with a beautful Maradona-esque solo goal (Click here to see it) to beat Corinthians in last weekend’s first game of the Brazilian national championship.
Dunga certainly doesn’t bow to public or press pressure “Until three weeks ago nobody was talking about Nilmar and the national team – it was just Ronaldo. Now they want Nilmar and Ronaldo’s no longer good enough.”
Which is certainly an accurate reflection of the fickleness of the Brazilian press and public towards the ‘flavour of the month’.
