Bayern Munich and Barcelona have agreed a deal that will see Philippe Coutinho move to the Bundesliga club on loan.

Coutinho joined the Catalan club in January 2018, but has struggled to settle and the player has continuously been linked with a move back to the Premier League.

With James Rodriguez’s loan spell having expired this summer, Bayern have been in the market for a playmaker and have got their man with Coutinho.

“Bayern Munich will pay 8.5 million euros and the player’s wages. The agreement also sees an option to buy for Bayern fixed at 120 million euros,” a statement on the Barca website read.

“FC Barcelona would like to thank to publicly thank Philippe Coutinho for his commitment and dedication wishes him all the best in this new stage of his career.”

Coutinho made 75 appearances for Barcelona, scoring 21 goals and winning two La Liga titles during his 18 months with the club.
