Fábio Carille is the new coach of Corinthians. After numerous unsuccessful contacts with other coaches, Timão’s board of directors decided to appoint Carille, who was the assistant coach of the club. Osmar Loss, who’s currently in charge of the U20 side, will take on the role of the assistant coach in the senior team. He takes office after the Copa São Paulo de Juniores in January. At Corinthians since 2009, Fábio Carille has always been seen as a disciple of Tite for his tactical concepts and methods of training – a profile that pleases the board. Another favorable point is participation in decisions about signings and meeting the needs of the current group.
The assistant took charge of the team twice this season after Tite’s departure and the dismissal of Cristóvão Borges, registering four wins, a draw and three losses. On the second occasion, he even received the promise of president Roberto de Andrade that he would continue until the end of the year. However, later, the agent opted for Oswaldo de Oliveira. The decision was taken by the board of directors in a meeting last Wednesday, at Parque São Jorge. After the denials of Guto Ferreira of Bahia and Dorival Júnior of Santos, Corinthians negotiated with Reinaldo Rueda of Atlético Nacional, but the Colombian coach was assessing the possibility of undergoing a hip surgery, which meant an agreement was impossible. Marcelo Oliveira was also wanted, but his name was not a consensus among the leaders.
