Cruzeiro and São Paulo have completed the negotiations for an exchange of players for 2017: the striker Neílton and midfielder Húdson.
Former Santos striker Neílton goes to Morumbi, while Húdson will defend Cruzeiro’s shirt in 2017. The deal is valid for one year and was finalized on Thursday between the Minas Gerais and São Paulo clubs. Neílton was at Hcor hospital, in the state capital, to undergo tests on Thursday. In the deal with Neílton, São Paulo have agreed to purchase the rights of the player at the end of the loan period. However, they’re yet to define the amount to buy the youngster. Cruzeiro will also define whether there will be a clause to buy Húdson’s rights at the end of next year. Húdson is the third signing of Cruzeiro, who have already confirmed the arrival of Ecuadorian defender Caicedo and left-back Diogo Barbosa. Neílton is also the third signing made by Tricolor; deals for goalkeeper Sidão and attacker Wellington Nem were already announced.
Sao Paulo had previously expressed an interest in Willian, but the player’s salary was deemed too high and for that reason, he was discarded. There was an attempt to include Michel Bastos in an agreement with Cruzeiro, but the option was denied. Tricolor had also tried to sign Colmán, of Paraguayan side Nacional. Neílton was loaned to Botafogo for the last two years and was one of the team’s major highlight in the Brazilian Championship this season. In 2016, Húdson made 49 appearances and scored one goal. His best phase was in the Copa Libertadores, in which São Paulo were eliminated in the semifinal. Neílton, meanwhile, had a good season for Botafogo, a club for which he played 54 games, scoring 12 goals.
