Arnaldo Tirone, club president of Palmeiras, says the club have made an offer to the player but are still awaiting a response, having not yet agreed a deal with the Catalan side.

“We proposed a salary about 15 or 20 days ago, and we are awaiting Henrique"s reply," said Tirone. “First, let"s try to talk to Barcelona and agree a fee. I have spoken with [Barcelona president] Sandro Rosell [at the Brazil v Scotland friendly in March]."

Henrique"s agent Marcos Malaquias says a deal is possible, but that Palmeiras will have to revise their offer to his client. “I"m hopeful," he said. “Henrique will be giving up a lot. Palmeiras must also give a lot. The two will find a compromise."

24-year-old Henrique has spent the last two seasons on loan at Racing Santander, and joined Barcelona from Palmeiras for €8 million in 2008. He has one cap for the Brazil national team.
